EMC Lab

Located at Cicor’s site in Angers, France, the EMC Lab provides accelerated EMC and radio compliance testing for a wide range of electronic products.

As a high-level certification laboratory, it supports rapid design validation and regulatory approval – from risk analysis to final qualification – and is fully integrated into Cicor’s global engineering network. The service operates independently of production and enables industry-leading turnaround times of just three weeks, compared to the typical six to eight weeks required by external labs.

An EMC expert supports each project through every development phase (from RFQ to qualification), helping to mitigate compliance risks early and avoid costly redesigns. By testing design improvements in advance, the lab also helps reduce the total cost of mass production.

Services

  • Regulatory assistance and risk analysis required for CE marking under the Radio Equipment, EMC, Low Voltage (BT), and ATEX directives. Support is also available for international markets, including the United States and Canada.
  • EMC testing for both emission and immunity performance, covering a wide range of sectors, including aerospace & defence, industrial electronics, and medical devices.
  • Radio testing for wireless technologies including LoRa, Sigfox, Bluetooth, RFID, and Wi-Fi.
  • Electrical safety testing, primarily according to EN 61010-1 (measuring and industrial devices), EN 62368-1 (AV and ICT equipment) and EN 60335-x (household appliances)
  • Annual regulatory production checks for ECE R10 automotive compliance.
  • Fast obsolescence qualification, enabling the validation of alternative components through test plan optimisation and internal testing.

Examples of regulatory strategy support include:

  • Optimising product family naming to reduce registration costs for FCC compliance in the United States.
  • Leveraging existing military or automotive test results to demonstrate conformity with CE marking requirements.
  • Selecting applicable standards for CE and automotive compliance of radio equipment used in multi-sector environments, such as devices operating in both trains and buses.

Examples of fast obsolescence qualification include:

  • When replacing components, Cicor experts update the risk analysis and repeat only the essential tests to confirm that compliance is maintained.
  • This targeted approach enables faster qualification of alternative parts, helping customers avoid delays and reduce testing costs.

Equipment

  • Full Anechoic Chamber (Faraday cage): 8.3 x 5.5 m, suitable for EMC and radio testing across a wide range of frequencies.
