Duties:
The Integration Design Engineer is responsible for:
- Carrying out installation site surveys and generating detailed survey reports enabling the production of relevant technical documentation
- Producing detailed resource estimates to support accurate costing for installation guidance work to meet the customer’s requirements
- Generating high quality design solutions, fully meeting customer requirements and articulated in the appropriate documentation formats
- Creating associated document drawings (mechanical and electrical) in AutoCAD (and potentially Inventor);
- Carrying out trials and inspections in relation to guidance information, and presenting findings
- Producing, or providing input to, feasibility studies and safety cases
- Ensuring that established configuration control and change control processes are observed, and that any opportunities to further improve these controls are highlighted
- Assisting the Team Leader in continuous improvement of processes, aimed at increasing efficiency and skills;
- Proactive customer engagement to ensure project and operational objectives are met;
- Maintaining awareness of the Time, Cost and Quality demands for each project, highlighting risks and opportunities and supporting the Project Manager in the efficient delivery of the Projects
- Proactively identifying opportunities to improve skills and process efficiency
- Compliance with STS Defence Health & Safety policy, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and reporting any activities to the H & S Manager that are not in accordance with safe working procedures
Skills/Qualifications:
The Integration Design Engineer should have:
- Proven experience in the production of integration design documents, to documented customer requirements and Defence Standards
- Strong IT skills, including MS Office and AutoCAD (Visio and Inventor experience advantageous)
- A broad technical awareness of general engineering techniques, electrical power distribution, TEMPEST, RFI and EMC
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong communication and organisational skills; and the ability to handle multiple tasks whilst retaining good attention to detail
- Strong time management skills, able to prioritise workload to meet functional demands ensuring program/ design responsibilities are prioritised to achieve customer satisfaction
- The ability to work unsupervised, demonstrate initiative, and be comfortable in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, suitable for customer facing tasks
- Awareness of MOD’s Change Impact Assessment Process (CIAP) may be advantageous
- Adaptability and innovation, adopting a pro-active, positive approach to departmental relationships and demands
