Cicor wins the DeviceMed Award in the Outsourcing Partner category.

Düsseldorf, November 12, 2014 – The DeviceMed Awards have been presented at the Compamed in Düsseldorf, the leading international trade fair for medical technology industry suppliers. Cicor came out on top in the Outsourcing Partner category.

This was the third time that the DeviceMed Award had been presented in recognition of the most innovative exhibits and exhibitors at Compamed. Cicor was presented with the award in the Outsourcing Partner category for its work as outsourcing partner for Hocoma AG's therapeutic back training device Valedo.
Its cooperation with Hocoma focused on the mechanical design of the Valedo product, with Cicor being responsible for the complete development of the casing. In doing this, IP protection, biocompatibility, and product safety (drop test) according to IEC 60601 presented special challenges. The use of the latest technology, in this case Bluetooth Smart Technology and the 3D functions (3-axis gyro sensors), led to the development of customer-specific test concepts. As an outsourcing partner, Cicor supports Hocoma in the development of the product, in mechanical design, in making an optimum choice of material, through to production and selection of the right packaging and supply chain management. Cicor undertakes final assembly, labeling and packaging, as well as shipping to the customer-specific sites.
Valedo was especially developed for long-term promotion of back health and helps prevent back pain. Two Bluetooth sensors record the movements of the patient's trunk and transmit the data to a virtual game world, so patients get feedback in real time on whether the exercise was performed correctly. The sensors each contain a 3D gyroscope, a 3D accelerometer and a 3D magnetometer and so can record full 360 degree movements.
