PCB Assembly
The site in Málaga has more than 30 years of experience in high-reliability electronics manufacturing for A&D, space and industrial applications. Three SMT lines (leaded and RoHS) with 183,000 CPH enable high-precision placement of uBGA, QFN and 01005 components on panels up to 23" × 23". Process control is ensured through 3D SPI, 3D AOI, 3D X-ray and full MES traceability. The site offers selective soldering, high-volume wave soldering and robot-assisted pin-to-pin soldering for robust THT assembly. To ensure reliable performance under demanding conditions, a wide range of conformal coating methods is available, including parylene, as well as cleaning and protection processes such as underfilling, potting and encapsulation. An IPC-certified workforce (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 and others) and comprehensive lifecycle support – including obsolescence management, repair/refurbishment and redesign – complete the service offering.
Microelectronic Assembly
The Cicor site in Málaga provides high-precision microelectronic assembly with fine-pitch placement capabilities for uBGA, QFN and 01005 components. The site operates specialised work cells for advanced packaging, including chip-on-board, gold ball bonding and device bonding. BGA/LGA underfilling, encapsulation and potting ensure mechanical stability and protection for critical applications. Additional processes include mixed leaded/RoHS assemblies, press-fit connector assembly, and dedicated BGA rework and reballing stations, enabling reliable and robust microelectronic integration for demanding environments.
Box Building
Cicor in Málaga provides complete box-build solutions, ranging from populated CCAs to fully integrated systems. Capabilities include the integration of cabling, backplanes, subsystems and mechanical assemblies, supported by digitalised, flexible workbenches and customised assembly cells. ESS and functional testing are embedded directly into the box-building process to ensure system reliability. With comprehensive lifecycle support, Cicor Málaga delivers products designed for operational lifetimes measured in decades.
Cable Assembly & Wire Harness
The site in Málaga delivers cable and wire harness assembly for aerospace, defence and industrial applications, supported by an IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified workforce. Capabilities include wire cutting and forming, as well as continuity and insulation testing. The site manufactures backplane and high-complexity harness assemblies using customised assembly cells and digitalised workbenches. ESS and functional tests are integrated into the process to ensure reliability, enabling harness solutions designed for operational lifetimes spanning several decades.
Test Engineering
Málaga offers comprehensive test engineering capabilities, including in-circuit testing (ICT) and flying probe systems (two ICT and two flying probe platforms). Functional testing of CCAs and fully integrated systems is performed on PXI and VME-based platforms, complemented by Boundary Scan and JTAG integration. The site develops parametric and functional test solutions, including IDR, FDR and TRR support. Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) is fully integrated, with thermal shock chambers from –70 °C to +180 °C, three-axis vibration systems, and climatic chambers for temperature and humidity testing. Rework and repair capabilities are ensured by an IPC 7711/7721 certified team.
