The Calibration Technician / Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for calibrating, maintaining, tracking, and issuing precision measuring instruments and production tooling. This position ensures all equipment meets quality standards, supports manufacturing operations, and maintains accurate inventory and calibration records.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and verification of measuring and test equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure compliance with company quality standards and applicable regulations.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and coordinate repairs or replacement of damaged or out-of-tolerance equipment.
  • Issue, receive, inspect, and track tools, gauges, fixtures, and equipment from the tool crib.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of tooling, consumables, and spare parts.
  • Order replacement tools and supplies as needed while monitoring inventory levels.
  • Inspect tools for wear, damage, and proper operation before returning them to inventory.
  • Organize and maintain the tool crib to ensure efficient storage and accessibility.
  • Assist production personnel in locating and selecting appropriate tools and measuring equipment.
  • Maintain computerized inventory and calibration management systems.
  • Support internal and external quality audits by providing required documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies and housekeeping standards.

 

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required, technical writing or associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in calibration, tool crib, manufacturing, or quality assurance preferred.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as:
    • Micrometers
    • Calipers
    • Dial indicators
    • Height gauges
    • Torque wrenches
    • Pressure gauges
  • ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and inventory/calibration software.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Experience with ISO9001, AS9100 or other quality management systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP software is preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand, walk, or bend for extended periods.
