SMT Operator

Precision in Every Placement. Excellence in every board. Cicor Solon is looking for a skilled SMT Operator to join our electronics manufacturing team. The SMT Operator will operate and monitor surface mount technology (SMT) equipment to assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) according to production specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reading and understanding documentation, drawings, bills of material and processes and then translating this information into the product.
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, set up functions, enter data, and/or process information.
  • Developing and/or maintaining programs associated with screen printers, surface mount machines, and reflow ovens to work as an integrated system to produce quality assemblies which meet/exceed customer expectations.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to help develop and refine the work instructions (routers) during the prototype and/or production stage.
  • Setting up SMT production equipment and machinery.
  • Reading and understanding the different characteristics of solder paste.
  • Understanding polarity/orientation, package size and values of SMT components.
  • Using precision measuring tools or equipment such as calipers/micrometers, etc.
  • Loading or unloading materials into the SMT equipment.
  • Establish temperature profiles, program, monitor, and operate re-flow soldering equipment.
  • Positioning, aligning, and adjusting PCB and component parts to facilitate assembly.
  • Conducting trial runs before soldering and make necessary adjustments.
  • Correcting problems by adjusting controls or stopping machines.
  • Monitoring all aspects of machine and machine processes during the assembly process.
  • Observing and listening to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Examining products or work to verify conformance to specifications including set-up, first articles and during the production process.
  • Marking and tagging components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified.
  • Maintaining production or work records.
  • Attaching or marking identification onto products and/or containers.
  • Cleaning and maintaining work area and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Person Specification

  • Professional demeanor and appearance while working within an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 environment. Have the internal drive to do what is necessary to meet/exceed our customer’s expectations in terms of quality and delivery, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Detail oriented and possess excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work constructively with individuals at all levels of responsibility within the SMT group, Engineering, sales personnel and customers.
  • Basic computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with, or ability to quickly learn collaboration tools such as SharePoint.
  • 3 to 9 years SMT equipment operations is desirable but willingness to learn new things is important.
  • Familiar with measuring instruments and devices
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 requirements
  • Previous experience working in an electronic manufacturing
