HSE Lead
The key responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain site risk assessments, COSHH assessments, health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with current UK legislation and industry best practice.
- Drive an open culture, ensuring focus on pro-active measures such as hazard spots, safety walks, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards across the site.
- Ensure that existing certifications and standards are maintained for ISO14001 and ISO45001.
- Manage the site’s audit cycle and carry out management system audits and inspections. Manage a programme of corrective/preventative actions for continuous improvement to ensure the highest standards in technical competence and safe working practices are met.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, produce detailed reports, identify root cause and make recommendations / implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure any reportable injuries or incidents are reported to the appropriate authorities (for example, under RIDDOR to the HSE).
- Work in conjunction with Cicor Group colleagues on HSE initiatives and compliance reporting.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, safety documentation, and training compliance.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of building infrastructure, equipment, and systems and ensure facilities meet operational requirements.
- Engage and work with contractors and suppliers for maintenance, repairs, and facility improvements.
- Manage waste disposal and environmental compliance activities.
- Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming HSE legislation and ensure the business has the systems, policies and practices in place to meet legal compliance.
Qualifications and experience:
Essential
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems and the ISO certification process.
- 5+ years’ experience working within a HSE role within the manufacturing and engineering sectors.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships. Able to influence outcomes and engage colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to manage relationships with external contractors, including tendering for services, negotiating contracts, approving RAMS, issuing permits to work and the supervision of work.
- Effective organisational and time management skills. Able to manage multiple projects with competing priorities to deliver the best outcomes.
- Lead projects and also work as part of a team.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma.
- IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Leadership and Management.
- Internal audit or lead auditor qualification.
